Make a Difference Today!

Did you see my post yesterday? I took a trip down to London to Save The Children HQ and spent the day with some wonderfully inspiring people and we all came away with the same thought. We NEED to do more, we WANT to do more and you know what, we CAN do more! Michelle and Gemma came up with a great concept to help spread the word on the No Child Born to Die campaign and to hopefully increase signatures on the petition before this TUESDAY!!! They want us bloggers to write 100 posts of 100 words about a great healthcare professional we have encountered and to tell you a little about what Save The Children are doing and then pass this forward keep the post going.

image My thoughts immediately sprang to the birth of my daughter, my very first experience of childbirth. After a phone call to the hospital to announce that I was on my way, within 15 minutes I was being greeted at the door by a lovely midwife who escorted us to the Midwife LED Unit and made me comfortable as my labour was taking hold. I had a large room to myself with a sofa, arm chair, bath, bed, bean bags, birthing ball and soft matting on the floor, everything I could need for a comfortable labour. My Midwife was so calm and attentive, if I wanted her there, she was there, if I wanted her to leave, she disappeared into the background.

I was one of the lucky ones and I like to think that in the future (hopefully) when Little Bean becomes a Mother she will receive the same level of care as I did. But not everyone in the world is so fortunate, some women have to travel for miles to reach their nearest health centre. When their newborns need their vaccinations the mothers can walk for days only to find on arrival that there are no vaccines left. You and me, we can make the difference in these mother’s lives, I have already made my mark, I have signed the petition and I will do everything I can to get others to do the same. We are hoping to achieve 60,000 signatures before Tuesday, yes that’s right this Tuesday so you haven’t got long left, please don’t click off and think, I’ll do it later, I’ll do it tomorrow, chances are you won’t, you’ll forget about it. Do it NOW! Currently the petition sits at approximately 42,000 so we have a long way to go but we can do it together!

So first off – Let’s all sign the petition, 30 seconds work and a step closer.

  1. Then the challenge set by Gemma and Michelle is that we want (need) to see 100 posts of 100 words linked up here by Tuesday. If 100 bloggers each write a post about this and encourage more signatures that could make a massive dent in the 20,000 signature shortfall that we sit with right now!
Write your 100 words about a great health professional you have encountered in your life. Add a link to the petition and either link or add in some information from Save the Children about the #Healthworkers campaign
  2. Link to a number of other bloggers/ vloggers and ask them to do the same.
  3. Tweet about this, facebook mention it, remark on google plus, talk to your Mum on the phone, whatever you can do to spread this to just a few more people, please do it.
