With a little over 3 weeks until Valentine’s Day it’s time to get your thinking caps on ladies and gentlemen. I know so many people who say “oh we don’t buy into all that rubbish” and I kind of see where they are coming from but it doesn’t have to be all about the commercialism does it? At the heart of it all (see what I did there?) is romance and unless romance is completely dead in your household/relationship then I think it’s time that you got into the spirit of Valentines and told your loved one how you really feel.
Made with love
If you really, really don’t want to buy a card, then why not make one? I love the personal touch because it shows that a person has thought about it. Craft materials don’t cost the earth and there are some super simple ideas online that you can try out and I guarantee it will earn you brownie points. I spotted these great ideas above on the Hobbycraft blog, there are so many great ideas online there really is no excuse.
I got you on my mind
As I mentioned above, romance (for me) is all about showing that someone has taken the time to think about you. It doesn’t have to be a pair of sparkling diamond earrings (although that would be nice too) but just to see that your likes and loves have been considered.
‘Reasons why I love you’ jar
Using a pretty memo block, pen and a nice jar write down 50-100 reasons why you love your other half. You can make the jar look pretty if it’s for a female or a little more masculine for a man. Imagine how nice it would be when you’re feeling a little blue to open up the jar and read all the wonderful things that someone special has noticed about you. If you can only think of 10 reasons why you love someone then perhaps you’ve got the wrong person.
A sensual valentine
I love this idea that I stumbled across on What’s On My Porch who has used boxes and even supplies the free printable download for your labels. You could use boxes, bottles, jars or just wrap them up in tissue paper and pop a label on.
Then of course you need to think about your Valentine, what would they really like to see? Perhaps it’s just a sexy photograph of yourself or maybe tickets to a favourite show (if you want to splash out of course).
You can make this gift as romantic, silly or crazy as you like, it all depends on the type of couple that you are and what you want to achieve from your Valentine’s gift. Maybe you could plan a sexy night in and use all the senses to make it extra special – I’m sure I don’t need to spell it out for you.
Go on, indulge your romantic side – I dare you! xx
