They say the best laid plans often go awry and in our case that is certainly true at the moment. Last weekend we had planned to take the Beans to Sea Life Birmingham for our last blogger trip of the year to see Santa. Unfortunately, we spent the day in hospital with a poorly Jelly Bean (further post to follow). This has meant that we now do not have a spare day to get over to Sea Life before Christmas as our plans are all tightly packed in this year and the recent spate of bugs in our house has meant that many of our plans have had to move around.
In Birmingham, however, Christmas celebrations have been in full swing with the arrival of the big man himself who will be at Sea Life Centre Birmingham until 23rd December. All admission tickets to Sea Life include the chance to meet Santa who is stationed with his North Pole neighbours – the Gentoo Penguins – in the Chilly Ice Adventure area.
This year, The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham’s resident Gentoo penguins welcomed a new colony, which migrated all the way from Calgary in Canada. The waddling additions have settled in with the resident Gentoo colony and are looking forward to spending their first Christmas in the UK. The cheeky birds are sure to put a smile on visitors’ faces as they visit the grotto!
Families will be able to see an underwater Christmas tree situated in the UK’s only transparent 360? Ocean Tunnel and find out more from the expert aquarist team about how all of the sea life creatures will receive treats during the festive season. What’s more, little ones can also visit the brand new attraction, Clownfish Kingdom, where they will come face-to-fin with the famous fish.
Amy Langham, General Manager at the attraction said:
We’re honoured to have Father Christmas choose our family attraction to base his North Pole HQ and look forward to welcoming many guests to experience the chilly Ice Adventure and see the cheeky Gentoo penguins when they meet him this Christmas.”
Plus, if you are looking for a fantastic festive gift, how about a unique VIP Feed experience with some of the centre’s most loved creatures? Prices start from just £65 with Molokai, the Giant Green Sea Turtle. For penguin lovers, there’s the opportunity to feed the adorable and cheeky Gentoo penguins, firm favourites with visitors at the centre. Alternatively, visitors can brave the sharks and give them their tasty lunch time treats.
Every experience makes a great gift and includes priority admission, a SEA LIFE goody bag and of course the opportunity to meet an Aquarist and learn more about the lives of some of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures. Get those questions answered that have forever been burning in your mind and discover all about the special diets of the sea creatures.
