016/366 – Deeeeeelicious!

Hummingbird BakeryBefore Christmas, Little Bean and I did quite a lot of baking together.  It’s something I have always enjoyed doing and I’m really pleased to find that Little Bean loves it too so it has become ‘our thing’ and something I try to do with Little Bean when Beanie Boy is having his nap on a Monday morning (because she is at school for the rest of the week).

I was lucky enough to receive two fab baking books this Christmas, the Hummingbird Bakery book from my Mum and The Great British Bake Off from Karin.  I absolutely LOVE them both and I’m really looking forward to trying out some of the mouth-watering recipes.  Today I asked Little Bean what she wanted to bake and she plumped for the Chocolate Cupcakes in the Hummingbird Bakery book.  The recipe was very different from any cake I have baked before and I was not worried that the batter seemed too wet to bake but I followed the recipe to a ‘T’ and the cakes came out just perfect and the frosting is deeeeeelicious!!

Of course, the best bit about baking is licking the spoon at the end, someone tried to pretend that they hadn’t done it but I think the telltale signs are there.
