Today the sun was shining and it was nice to see everyone come out for some good community fun at the annual Market Deeping Carnival. The theme for this year was “Wheels” and Music and they thought of everything from Harley Davidson motorcyles, vintage cars, a steam engine, tractors, vintage and modern fire engines and not forgetting the big wheel at the funfair.. We took a picnic and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon whilst the children enjoyed playing in the park and on the various activities. There were some great bands performing on the soundstage from drum solos to jazz, choral and modern. There were displays from local community groups such as Dance Troops and Shotokan Karate Club, I loved seeing lots of budding little children practising their moves in the playground later on, perhaps they will be the clubs newest members soon? For the bargain hunters a car boot was taking place on the far side of the field and yes I didn’t manage to bag myself a few bits and pieces!!
There was something for everyone, shopping and tea room for Mum, Beer Tent and motors for Dad, bouncy castles and all the fun of the fair for the children. Curly attempted to splat a rat but it would appear they are slippy little blighters as they managed to elude his bat every time! Little Bean bounced her way all around the castle and Beanie Boy just bobbed along to the beat. I caught up with a few friendly faces I haven’t seen in a while and generally soaked up the atmosphere. I love living in Market Deeping as there is a good sense of community spirit, whenever an event is on there is always a good turnout which I think is important. We’re now looking forward to the Duck Race in September and I’m not 100% sure but I’m guessing there will be the Raft Race as usual in August, bring it on!
