The first time I heard of Charley Bear I was stood in Cafebebe’s kitchen when Little Miss appeared shouting “Are you there Charley Bear?”. I was just about to ask her if she’d lost her teddy when I realised she was looking at the TV and a really cute little bear with the very recognisable voice of James Corden. The next time we were at home with CBeebies on I said to Little Bean “oh look, there’s a new programme on called . .” but I didn’t get to finish my sentence because in true child style, Little Bean cut me off short and said “It’s Charley Bear Mummy, see it’s not new”. Well of course, silly me! Don’t you just love how children manage to make you feel about an inch tall?
Soon the series link on my TV Planner had a new addition and prompted the question from Hubby “Who’s Charley Bear?” so I told him to speak to his daughter. Charley Bear is a lovable bear who along with his friends, Caramel the cow, Bellarina the ballerina, Frozo the penguin, Midge the teddy bear, Nibblit the rabbit and Rivet the robot go on magical adventures in their land of make believe. There is something very captivating about Charley Bear, perhaps because he looks so much like a teddy bear that most children might already own. I know Little Bean has one or two which are now both called Charley!!
We were sent Charley’s First Ever DVD to review and I was pretty sure it would be a winner but this is what my daughter Little Bean thought to her new DVD.
The DVD features 7 fun-filled episodes from the series, each being 7 minutes long. As Little Bean said in her ‘interview’ her favourite was Pop Star Charley, personally I think its because she loved his cool sunglasses, she has similar ones which are heart shaped! In this episode Charley dreams of becoming a popstar, he is drawn by the fame, the fans and the fun but when it comes down to it and he has to give his first performance, he gets stage fright. Poor Charley Bear, thank goodness he has the backing of his great friends who help him to put on a show-stopping performance. Other episodes include: Wild West Caramel, Midge’s Birthday, Art in the Park, Basketball Midge and a bonus episode Big Top Ballerina.
Little Charley Bear’s First DVD was launched on 6th June (Little Bean’s 3rd Birthday) and retails at £12.99. If you have pre-school children I can assure you they will not be disappointed with this DVD. But if you’re quick, you can grab a copy of the DVD here for free! I have one extra copy to give away to one of my lucky readers.
All you have to do is tweet “Charley Bear is with @MummyMatters and I would like to win him” and then come back here leaving a comment to let me know you did so.
