Wipe Out Waste launches today!!

Do you recycle?  Did you know that up until now, not everything that we put in our recycle bins can actually be recycled?  Waste such as baby wipe packs, crisp packets, drinks pouches and toothbrushes all end up in landfill sites because there was no other option.  That was until Johnson Baby’s Partner, Terracycle came to the rescue and came up with a way to upcycle these and other waste products into a large variety of consumer products such as baby bibs, mess mats, mouse mats and bags to name just a few.

Johnsons Baby wanted to help reduce the amount of waste going into landfill sites in the UK and Ireland so they teamed up with Terracycle to start the Wipe Out Waste scheme.  This is a scheme where everyone wins, its simple, you save your baby wipes packs (they don’t have to be just Johnsons), log onto www.wipeoutwaste.co.uk to print off a free postage label, send the packs to Johnsons who will pay a Registered Charity of your choice 2p per pack and then Terracycle will upcycle the waste to keep it out of the landfill.  Any Registered Charity can take part in the scheme, nurseries, playgroups, Schools, community groups – they can all benefit!

Did You Know?

  • A Mum will use and throw away hundreds of baby wipe packets every year
  • It only takes 6 baby wipes packs to be upcycled in one baby bib
  • There are 126 Busy Bees nurseries across the UK who are already registered for the scheme
  • Any item which carries the Terracycle logo can be upcycled

Today marks the launch of the website www.wipeoutwaste.co.uk (www.wipeoutwaste.ie for Ireland) – what are you waiting for?

Interesting article, I didn’t know this. Is it advertised on the baby wipes packets do you know? I’m always keen to do my bit for the planet and will definitely start saving mine. I will mention it to my daughters pre-school on Monday when she goes to see if they are interested xx
