Did you see my post yesterday? Well this morning when Little Bean woke up, we gave her loads of praise for going to sleep without a dummy and told her what a big girl she was and how proud we were of her. I then said to her that the Dummy Fairy had been in touch and was so pleased that she hadn’t needed a dummy last night. I explained to her that the Dummy Fairy collected all the dummies from the big boys and girls and gave them to the little babies like Beanie Boy who needed them. She looked at me with a very serious face and tentatively said “ok”. I then went on to say that the Dummy Fairy had given me some money to buy Little Bean a very special bedtime teddy bear to have instead of a dummy and that we could go straight to the shop this morning so that she could choose a new bear.
We all got dressed at lightening speed and headed off in the car to the shops where Little Bean told me that she wanted to get a pink teddy bear, or maybe even a blue one!?!?!
This is the teddy bear that she chose, on its tummy it actually says ‘Goodnight Bear’ so I think she chose very well.
This afternoon Little Bean spent the afternoon at Nanny and Grandads, I was nervous about how she would get on as this would be her first daytime nap without her dummy but I explained to her before she went that there would be no dummy because the babies needed it and so she would have her new pink teddy (she’s not very adventurous when it comes to naming her toys!) instead of a dummy for her sleep.
Apparently she complained a little at naptime but only for a few minutes and then she went to sleep.
Tonight at bedtime I didn’t mention the dummy at all, I just made sure that she had her teddy and was comfortable in bed, not too hot and that her music was on. I kissed her goodnight and that was it, she went straight to sleep.
I am soooooo proud of my little girl, I was dreading taking away her dummy but she’s doing so much better than I expected. I love you Little Bean xxx
