I’m in labour!!

About 5 minutes after my post this morning “Where are you baby?” I popped to the loo to “spend a penny” and ended up getting more than I bargained for.  My first thought was “have I just wet myself” but bearing in mind I’d just had a wee, I thought that was a very unlikely scenario.  I sat down and tried to go again but nothing, stood up and felt more water trickling down my leg – no I definitely hadn’t lost bladder control – my water’s had broken!!!  Then panic set in, because my hospital bag with all my maternity pads was sitting ready and waiting in my car outside, every step I took, more water trickled down my leg so how was I supposed to make it out to the car?

I shuffled my way upstairs and had a look in my bathroom cupboard but all that I could find were breast pads – better than nothing I suppose!

I did what any normal person whose waters had just broken would do and called my friend Karin (Cafebebe) to see if she wanted to come around for lunch so our girls could play for the afternoon.  I called Hubby and told him that my waters had broken but not to worry, I would call him later if I thought he should come home and then eventually I called the hospital and said that I thought my waters had broken.  They told me that I needed to go in as soon as I could so that they could be sure my waters had gone.  With Little Bean my waters broke more than 24 hours before she was born and again they were “trickles” as opposed to “gushes”.

We made our way to hospital where they confirmed that my waters had gone, well the hind waters – monitored me for a while and said that I was in the first stages of labour and that I should come home again.  They have told me to phone back on Wednesday morning to see if I need to be induced – which I thought was a little strange as that will be 48 hours after my waters broke and I was told in my first pregnancy that there is more risk of infection????

We went to pick up Little Bean and took her for a walk but it very quickly left me in a lot of pain – as the afternoon/evening has progressed my contractions have been coming and going.  One minute they’re every five minutes, then suddenly I don’t get one for about half an hour.  I’m really hoping that things kick off tonight, although I have to say now that I know I’m nearly there I’m starting to dread it.  I know what pain I’ve got coming my way and I just hope that everything goes well and I’m presented with a healthy happy baby boy.

This will (hopefully) be my last post now until I am a Mummy again – the next post you should read will be from my good friend Karin (Cafebebe) who is going to do a guest post for me to announce the little man’s arrival!!

So long for now, wish me luck xx
